Do you need a dental crown but are uncertain about the various options? Dental crowns, which can be constructed of porcelain, metal, or zirconia, are commonly used to restore the structure and function of injured teeth. It is a “cap” placed over a tooth to restore its shape, size, appearance, and strength. Crowns can be used to cover a large filling, protect a weak tooth, hold a dental bridge, cover a dental implant, cover a root canal, and even for cosmetic purposes.
Monroe Family Dentistry strives to be as conservative as possible. Our uniqueness is that our dental crowns contain no metal. It is the responsible method to practice dentistry. In the past, “crown or filling” was the only restorative option available from your family dentist. With advancements in adhesion techniques and porcelain systems, we can provide more traditional alternatives, such as inlays and onlays. Sometimes, a full-coverage crown may be the best option, such as when the tooth has extensive damage or decay or when we are replacing an old crown. Porcelain is the best material for replicating natural enamel and dentine.
